Quick Tidbits On This Weekend

First and foremost, today wasn’t terrible. The U-21s got a 2-0 result at home to take with them away to Belgium, and the senior side tide 0-0 to Northern Ireland. Marco liveblogged the game with you guys and he’ll have a full review up this weekend. I managed to watch most of the U21 game and I’m about to watch the senior side’s replay, so you guys’ll get my thoughts this weekend as well.

One thing to discuss until then; these tweets, right from Giuseppe Rossi’s Twitter account.

@GiuseppeRossi22 Italy’s most in form forward coming on with 6 minutes to go. Doesn’t make much sense really [something he retweeted]

@JozyAltidore17 yoo…just got back from the game…0-0 played 5 mins…not in a good mood..when u guys play??

He’s angry and understandably so, but Cesare needs to get on this asap.

Also Serbia lost, which is fantastic for us.

Rossi is not smart to RE-TWEET what someone said (true or not)

Tweeter is why players get in trouble with coaches.

Someone should tell him for his own good to delete the RE_TWEET

It's a travesty that Pepe played ahead of Rossi. It's just ridiculous. But Rossi needs to be smarter than this.

Also Altidore replied to Rossi on Twitter and stated that “you coach should youtube you.” I'm not sure which is more offensive: that Altidore can't name the Italian national team coach or that he's suggesting that Prandelli need rely on Youtube to lean about his players.

Prandelli should have brought those substitutions in much earlier than he did. Pepe and Borriello should have been taken out for Pazzini and Rossi at half time. Rossi really should learn to STFU on Twitter though, bitching on there about the national isn't going to score him brownie points.

Also, on the subject of Rossi's Twitter, he had someone tweet to him earlier today that they wished he had a career ending injury during the Ireland game and he tweeted back and forth with the person. He really needs to learn to not feed the animals and be so reactive.

The game today was not awful but this team really doesn't instill confidence. I spend each game knowing that the result can really go either way, no matter who they are playing against. I'm definitely hoping some of the Azzurrini get call ups in the next few years. I've got more faith in them.

I like G Rossi, but shut up and just play. He's young, he will have his time. Pepe cant continue the con for much longer

Despite momentary, mental retardation can truly be a bitch, as evident here with GiuRo.

This is just as dumb as Marchisio going on Facebook and talking about his contractual issues a few weeks ago and how he was losing hope of a renewal.

Rossi needs to be smarter than this.

Wow people are reading way too much into this. Firstly, you need to understand something about Twitter to understand his post to Altidore. That was a direct @ reply. Meaning only people who followed Rossi AND ALSO followed Altidore would see it unless they specifically looked for it. This is a pretty small bunch and being that he hardly really complained: “not in a good mood” is not exactly something like “this is bullshit!” Which is, in reality, what it is.

Expecting substitutes to score in the last 7 minutes is more than a bit ridiculous. Unless it's like… Inzaghi of course. Since he always seems to manage :P

I never understand why fans think soccer players shouldn't DARE share their personal opinions.

The Italian coach has been the Italian coach for what… less than 3 months? Please give me one logical reason that Jozy Altidore should know his name. Because he was the coach of a mediocre team in a league Altidore has never played in?

But let's ignore that altogether. It's possible he DOES know his name. But I doubt he's met him. Thus it would simply be awkward to say “Cesare should YouTube you” or “Prandelli should YouTube you.” I'd hardly fault someone for choosing a more natural approach to say something.

But let's forget THAT. You take issue with the assumption that Altidore would be so crass as to suggest “that Prandelli need rely on Youtube to learn about his players” because, I presume, that would be a very unscientific way to coach a team. But his point with that comment is that picking Rossi to start should be an EASY choice based on the impressive things he's done and the form he is in. This is, naturally, an arguable point. But your condescending “How dare he even SUGGEST something like YOUTUBE” is a little harsh for a guy who was simply saying a nice thing to a friend and teammate.
