Italy News : Lippi and Borriello
Marcello Lippi
Marcello ”Pimpaliscious” Lippi has been out of the football circle since his triumphant 2006 voyage to Germany. The now legendary ex-Italian gaffer has been rejecting offers left and right since his World Cup win. Lippi is what I would call a nicely decorated coach: 5 Scudetti, a Champions League title, an Intercontinental Cup, a Coppa Italia, a European Supercup and an insignificant World Cup. He needs to comeback to the beautiful game. His talent and cigar smoking classiness is dearly missed.
Looks like Lazio’s Lotito is planning to offer Marcello a job. After seeing Lippi linked with AC Milan (for some more Gattuso chokings) and Napoli recently, Italian paper Leggo has now said that Claudio Lotito is looking to replace Delio Rossi at the end of the season, if not sooner. The Lazio President has seemingly singled out the World Cup winning coach as his #1 priority. HA!
Last time Lippi coached in Serie A he was racking up about 4 M €uros a year. Has someone brought this minor detail to the attention of Scroogy Claudio Lotito?
Borriello wants to go to the AustrianSwisses.
Is it just me or is Marco Borriello the Fabio Quagliarella of the 2007/2008 season? With 16 goals already this term, Borriello is trying hard to convince Roberto Donadoni that he deserves to be on that Swiss Air plane in June. I’m a little torn on Borriello. He has clearly had a mesmerizing season so far but is 6 months of solid play enough to make a World Champion squad? Only time will tell.
What do you guys think? Who should Marco be on the squad ahead? If so, at the expense of which attacker?
Forza Azzurri !
