The Serie A Kick Off

August 30th, 2008 | By: Julian | 5 Comments »

Sorry for the lack of posts. I just moved into college so I’ve been unpacking and getting stuff ready for classes.

Anyway, here’s the stuff I missed recently:

-Balotelli was called up for the first time by the Azzurrini. Him, along with Andrea Seculin and Marco Androelli received their maiden call ups by Casiraghi and are included in the squad to play against Greece and Croatia in qualifiers for the U-21 European Championships. Personally, I think it was a great choice. Balotelli is very talented and grew up in Italy, but first and foremost wants to be an Azzurri player (Hear that Amauri?). He’s young but could develop into a great striker under the right leadership. I see his callup as only a good thing.

-Serie A kicked off today (YAY), with Udinese schooling Palermo and Inter tying Samp. Di Natale was great for the whole game against Palermo, and had some great touches and not one, but two excellent goals. Udinese really dominated for most of the match and looked especially lethal on the counter attack. Palermo didn’t play bad but it was clear that they couldn’t really match Udinese. On the other hand, Inter-Samp was very tight, with Inter controlling and scoring in the first half of the match, while Samp controlled play and scored in the second half. It was a great kickoff to the Serie A campaign, and if it’s any indication of the rest of the season, we have quite a season in store for us.

Big games tomorrow- Roma vs Napoli and Juve vs Fior.

-Donadummy decided to criticize Lippi for not including Cassano in his squad. Kinda an ironic move considering Donadoni dropped Cassano for nearly 9 months, though he did recall him for the Euros. I can’t figure out why Lippi didn’t include Cassano either. Oh, and Lippi also revealed that he keeps in touch with Azzurri giants, such as… Massimo Oddo. The guy he didn’t call up for Euro.

One time, I made a post stating that Lippi saw Cassano’s volatile personality as a liability, and I got brutally flamed for it.

Now that Cassano’s been playing well again, his personality is really the *only* reason I can dream up.

Ronaldinho makes a huge impact with his plays and assists for ambrosini for the Milan equaliser..It was incredible to see the relief in the tensed faces of Galliani and Ancelotti…Well, waiting for the second half eagerly..i cant understand why these players like DiNatale and Ambrosini can replicate their form in the national side..by the way, Zambrotta has clearly showed why he is still among the great full backs
