Zambrotta Injury

May 28th, 2006 | By: Jay | 4 Comments »

As you may or may not have read, Zambrotta was injured in last night’s friendly. It’s a thigh strain, which may not mean anything in the long run, but its the LAST thing Italy needs (losing defenders). Of all the guys in back to lose, he is the most versatile in my opinion.

He’s returned to Coverciano and we’ll let you know when we find out more. Zambrotta has a history of missing time with some knocks, so its not completely unusual, but still very unwelcome. What was most disturbing was this comment:

“It’s certainly a muscular problem, but not due to tiredness or my fitness levels. Quite simply, the muscle didn’t hold up.” Muscles failing ‘just because’ can’t be a good thing.

Hopefully Materazzi will get injured soon.

Anyways I will be leaving for switzerland tomorrow to see the friendly match. I predict another victory with an offensive Italy. Forza Azzurri.

He’ll be OK!

From http://www.channel4.com:

“However, the former Bari man underwent numerous tests this evening which ruled out any serious damage.

“‘I’m a lot more tranquil, there shouldn’t be any problems for me with regard to the World Cup,’ the left-back stated this evening.”

I think Zambrotta ranks right up in there with Totti and Toni in terms of indispensability. We simply can’t afford to lose any of the three. Good to hear that it’s nothing serious. Whew!
