We Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Broadcast…

I’d love to think that you guys get all your soccer news from here, but I know that’s not true. Considering that I don’t get all my news from my own blog, it’s obvious that most of us visit multiple soccer sites to get our daily fix- and not just Italian sites. Here’s a quick look at some sites you guys might be interested in going to. These are sites that I love to visit and that I hope you guys will enjoy, too. I’m not affiliated with any of them, so don’t think I’m making any money or fame off of this. It’s just a heads up so you guys can be more informed. But just because I’m linking you to other soccer sites doesn’t mean I want you to stop coming here :P .

Football Italiano. This site is run by John Silver, who often posts in the comments section here. It’s a great site that’s updated very often and has reliable soccer news. As the name implies, it’s got an Italian focus, but what great soccer website doesn’t? The reason I’m telling you about it is because the editorials are fantastic. This was the site I linked with the fantasia article a few days back. John Silver did a new article recently about Furbizia (What’s that? Click the link and read on). I recommend bookmarking this one.

TheGuardian. I know that some people don’t really trust their reporting, but I mostly go their for the editor blogs. Always interesting, and since it’s a British site you get pretty decent coverage. Being a British site is a double edged sword, though, since they don’t really cover Calcio or anything outside of the EPL nearly as much as they cover the Premiere League. But it’s still worth a look at.

Goal.com. It’s the bane of most soccer fans’ existence, as 99% of the stuff on the site has a tendency to not be 100% true, but I havent found a site that updates anywhere near as often as they do. I visit it multiple times as day as they seem to update every 5 minutes or so. Just beware that not everything you read on it is true, or even likely.

101greatgoals. This site is…err, great for two reasons. One, it has videos of every goal scored around Europe, and they’re usually added minutes after a match ends. Two, they have a decent blog that gives you nice soccer coverage. I mostly use it for the videos.

TheOffside. If for some reason you visit this site and not the sister site to it, I dunno where you’ve been. TheOffside, for those who don’t know, is like worldcupblog but for club teams. Thus the site has more pages and usually more visitors than we get in this neck of the woods. I recommend checking out your favorite clubs’ page- chances are, they have a great writer at the helm.

Daylife. Ever wanted a high quality soccer picture for a game? Ever wonder where most of us bloggers get our pictures from? Then this is the site for you. Just type in a phrase into the search bar (Anything from “Lippi” to “Henrik Laarson”) and the site will return pictures recently taken at press conferences and games.

Finally, ever wanted a real soccer jersey but didn’t know where to find it? Try Subside. Great selection, stellar quality. I have 3 jerseys from them and will no doubt buy more in the future.

Any others that I missed? Post them in the comments below!

Next post: A preview of Brazil’s midfield. And I know I said that’s what this post would be, but I lied.

Julian i have a rule of thumb about goal.com, No quotes No truth, When you read the word REPORTS in a headline it’s short for RUMORS like eg :”Totti will retire this year REPORTS” that is a lovely rumor isn’t it.. And last of all, the only 100% True info was, eg :” SPLAETTI : Roma must win in Napoli” That’s the most reliable way of deciding Rumor from Truth!

Channel4’s Football Italia is pretty average, not trash like Goal.com or the even worse Tribal Football, but any english-language Calcio site is going to be a bit weak.

The Gazzetta Dello Sport has an English section, but I’m not sure how good it is. As far as Italian sites go…read that, and my personal favorites CalcioMercato and TuttoMercatoWeb.

As far as clubs go, Juve’s english page isn’t bad either, but most Serie A sides don’t have them or they are miserable.

Oh and of course the excellent MCalcio (www.mcalcio.com) written by ADP Offside blogger Marco Pantanella.

It’s called ‘football’, not ’soccer’.

futbolita.wordpress.com is a nice well built blog> it focuses on Serie A, La Liga and is great for fans who like to have a banter on various issues here and there. im a regular at acmilan.theoffside.com and the offside is fantastics>they have player blogs as well. when the Brazil midfield post coming up?..im a Brazil fan but there’s no activity at that blog its been dead for a while now.

I actually quite like Channel4’s Football Italia. They have some great editorials, updated often, rather amusing “Quotes of the Week”…it’s pretty ideal for the Serie A fan that doesn’t speak Italian. Definitely my first place to go for relatively reliable calcio news. MCalcio is quite good as well.

Whoa Julian I don’t RUN footballitaliano.co.uk, I’m just one of the writers. The actual big dogs around there are Tim Doel and Rob Paton, who also writer some articles. http://www.footballitaliano.co.uk/about.html

Thank you very much for the links anyway. Much appreciated. :)

I like channel4 because it is much more objective, it gives coverage to other teams that arn’t Milan, Juve, Inter, or Roma… Goal.com is unbelievably Milan-bias…their, Serie A 2008-2009 predictions were basically Milan wins this, Milan wins that…Milan, Milan, Milan, when the Kaka story was going on they were posting the Kaka stories under the sections for other teams. Tribal football can be hillariously misleading,

Mike, that’s because all their writers that cover Calcio are Milanistas AKA Salvatore Landolina and all them.
