Vieri Situation Not Good

March 27th, 2006 | By: Jay | 9 Comments »

Chrisitan Vieri limped off the pitch on Sunday early in the match against PSG, and not much was made of it. Well, suddenly its not looking so good…

Both Gazzetta and Channel 4 are saying that his knee was injured in a freakish accident.

On a positive note, DiVaio looked really good and was dangerous all night.

Vieri is out for some time. That will be good for players like Inzaghi who are still looking for a spot for the world cup.

Vieri sucks!! He’s no more the great player we used too see, it’s a old & slow & heavy primadonna, he sucked bad in the last WC and EuroCup and I don’t see how he could be useful in this WC so I’m hoping Lippi will choose someone else even if Vieri is in good shape

Ouch Zero, tell us how you really feel. Alot of teams keep some of the older players on the squad for the sake of experience and leadership even though they may not be the best choice for the team overall. Look at Zidane(barely moves on the pitch), Kahn(phsycho), Figo(automatic spot but Scolari had to think about Quaresma???) Emerson (emerson?????)

@ Soze
But it seems France has nothing better than Zidane in that role and they pick him because you never know what he could do even thought he’s old, Kahn has is bad moment but even Germany hasn’t better options (I mean Lemahn is so much better then kahn?) and Emerson isn’t that bad, they have better midfielders but he doesn’t disfigure, so it’s not a bad choice.

Vieri is gone, this is clear: he’s old, slow and he keep getting injuries. He’s been dismissed by Inter because he wasn’t more able to play at high level (but he was still pretending a huge amount of money) and Milan made a big mistake by signing him (oh Galliani, that genius!) and when he decided leave no team in the serieA ask for him to join.
About experience and leadership, do you really think he has those quality? No he hasn’t( especially leadership), he’s not the one, we’ve seen it in the last years.

Then add this to the fact that Italy will probably play with 3 forwards as seen with Germany, what could he do in that formation? We need players who run like beast not stone pillars, he would be less than useless.
Most of italian fans and press think like this, Lippi had to explain to press the reason why he was going to choose Vieri but this happened before Vieri got his injuries so I hope now Lippi changed his mind.

So thank you Cristhian, you made us lose in the last WC, you did bad either in the last Eurocup now please; right over there’s the door, good bye.
Let’s move on, let’s pick someone else, e.g Inzaghi could be much useful

I agree with those that think Vieri isn’t worth taking to the world cup. It would be nice to see him only if Italy goes against Australia and See Bobo play against his brother Max.

Anyways, Vieri has never done much for the Italian National Team. He has scored a lot of goals (Tied for most goals scored in the Italian National Team I think), still it’s only because he has played for 5 times as many games as the goals he scored. One goal in 5 matches is shitty. He is shitty. I’ll take Gillardino, Totti and Toni and just about any other striker rather than him. Yes he is experienced, but every time I see him play, seems his area of expertise is fucking things up for Italy. Let him go to his old age home or something.

Zero, I can’t argue with that. But Massimo, he has scored alot of goals, but his percentage is almost one goal in two games, just like Roberto Baggio and Toni…that’s not bad. Totti’s is 1 in every 4 games, even Del Piero’s is 1 in 3. He can’t be all that bad.

Yes its true that Vieri is probably of no use to us for the upcoming World Cup but I believe that he helped us on several occasions like the WC in 1998 (5 goals) and in 2002 (4 goals). He wasn’t bad and would weigh a lot on the defenses.
