This is not a list unless you are thinking about adding Antonio Di Natale. This is just a disgraceful squad you have compiled there.

i do not think it matters who Italy selects this year. unfortunately i think they have almost no chance of winning in 2010 - there is just no combination of older-experienced with younger-fresher players that could push us all the way.

we have a decent chance for 2014 if we can get guys like Rossi, Giovinco and Balotelli on the team by the next Euro-cup, but until then ...

and also, have to disagree strongly with Cassano being anywhere near the Azzurri. did you see him today in the derby? all he did was fall down and dive. he was the worst guy on the field for Samp. it is obvious why Lippi won't pick him.

Yea, Del Piero's been having a rough time, but i still think he deserves a callup. He's inconsistent, but when he's on his game he's REALLY on his game. Though because of his inconsistency, i dont know if he would start, unless he starts to play like he did in the first half of the season again (and i'm a huge ADP fan), especially when there's other players like him that want that spot, specifically Cassano and Giovinco.

Camoranesi has alot of injury problems (as well as a temper lately), but other than that, he doesnt really show his age. He's still the best italian winger in the world, in my opinion the best italian midfielder overall, one of the best crossers in the world, and one of the best italian dribblers too. He should definitely be called up, and still be a starter, at least most of time, for 2010. For 2014, okay, he'll be 35, but right now he's still doing great.

And Amauri's brazilian, but i think would represent Italy proudly, has lived in italy a long time and is getting his passport, and he's one of the best choices up front we have. See, Toni's past his prime, Iaquinta had a nice run recently but seems to have dropped his form, Gilardino and Quagliarella's national team form is very bad compared to their club form, etc. And it's not that Amauri's not good enough for Brazil, it's just that Dunga ignored him for a while for some reason, but he also hasnt called up Grafite and continued for a while to callup Adriano, so Dunga's decisions dont hold much credibility to me.

Santacroce is not oriundo. His father was born in Italy, and his mother is Afro-Brazilian. He was born in Brazil, but become eligible for dual nationality under Brazilian law in 1994, when their constitution was altered to allow dual citizenship. He was raised in Italy since the age of 4 and has come up through the Italian system. It's not like Camoranesi, who only came here to play football and feels Argentine and not Italian. And he's not like Amauri, who wants to star for a national team that might win something, and will alter his nationality to anything to get that.

Amauri and Del Piero are not needed on this team. Im not sure if you have been watching Juventus, but one reason why they seem a bit lackluster is because of Del Piero, who has some where down the line forgot how to pass to players (something which he was amazing at). He is a hog and has a bad attitude.

Amauri is brazilian and therefore should play for brazil. I am Italian, and if Amauri is not good enough for brazil what makes him good enough for the Azzurri? He is no more than an average player who has been yet again upped by the Italian media.

Camro is Amazing, quick and for me one of the best players on Juventus/Azzurri - but he is 30+ and in all honesty can't be starting for the national team. if he is picked thats fine, have him as a tool in the tool box - but no more than that.

Marchisio should and will get called up.

Cassano, Lippi seems to think Pepe is more usefull than Cassano, how he can leave him at home shows the arrogance of Lippi.

Camoranesi needs to be called up. It seems like everyone is either forgetting him or ignoring him, but he's an important part of the Azzurri and still has some years left in him. And personally i think ADP should be called up too, as well as Cassano, Marchisio, and maybe Giovinco and Amauri too (if Amauri gets passport and Giovinco gets more time).

Also of the current group of players only the following should be selected - aside from goaltenders

1. Pirlo
2. Gattuso
3. Rossi
4. Grosso
5. Pazzini
6. De Rossi
7. Chiellini
well you get the idea. We will be very volitile at either the Confederation cup or the world cup if either... Cannavaro, Zambrotta, Di Natale, Gilardino, Pepe walk on the field for a moment.

Buffon
Motta - Chiellini - Santacroce - Santon
Gattuso
Giovinco - Pirlo
Cassano
Rossi - Balotelli*

OR

Buffon
Motta - Chiellini - Gamberini - Santon
Marchisio - De Rossi - Pirlo
Giovinco
Rossi - Cassano

* This line to start the world cup - against weaker teams, showboat a little. Then start removing either Rossi or Balotelli and go more defensive with DeRossi. I think one reason Italy have looked flat is with the absence of Gattuso to be honest, not to mention an odd formation and old players. But for Gattuso's roll he isnt that old, and won't be ancient come the world cup. DeRossi for me, I know there are a lot of Romanistas here, but he is pretty flat half the time. Even for Roma he doesn't always show up. He will probably end up being captain of the azzurri but he still has a bit of maturity to go through before that. For 2010 Buffon will be the captain.

Now with that being said, I have another comment to throw out there.

Can you believe it's been 9 years since Euro 2000? Next year it will be 10 years since that tournament. What the hell are players who played on the team during that tournament let along 1998 world cup still doing on the bloody national team? Can someone tell me this? I can understand 2006, but we are almost four years from 2006.

Finally, I heard some disturbing news. If someone can varify this I would love to know for certain. Did CANNAVARO SIGN WITH JUVENTUS? WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON? DOES THE REST OF THE WORLD NEED TO CONTINUE LAUGHING AT US?
