Relief, Not Excitement.

October 8th, 2006 | By: Jay | 177 Comments »

Italy finally stepped up and grabbed all three points in a gritty, occasionally ugly qualifier last night. Grosso and Perotta were both unvailable which probably affected Donadoni’s line-up a bit, but it was encouraging to see the him start an attack-minded squad, even if it did include Del Piero who certainly won’t feature in Euro 2008. The goals didn’t come until late, but the Azzurri never panicked and Buffon was brilliant as usual. I cringe to think what will happen when he hangs up his “international boots.” All of you who thought Scotland would be leading the group at this stage, please stand up!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

How many of you think that Zidane’s sister is patiently and currently waiting for Materazzi in her thong?

(months later she is asking herself - oh please please come take the shirt off my back…)

Quote by Thierry
–”But the denial of Materrazi was far more interesting ” I never said him son of a wh*re terrorist ’cause i don’t know what the world terrorist means.” A typically Freudian’s denial.”–

First of all i suggest you to be less superficial basing your considerations on Freud’s theories: the freudian removal of memory has to do with sexual aspects and lapsus is a temporary forgetfulness ,not knowing the meaning of a word is not a temporary forgetfulness,

Secondo of all and MOST IMPORTANT THING : MATERAZZI DID KNOW THE MEANING OF THE “WORD TERRORIST OF COURSE” and he didn’t lie cause IT WAS A JOKE.It is hard for you to understand this but i’m italian and i know that saying “i don’t even know what that means” sometimes it is like saying “i’v nothing to do with this or ,in this case, “terrorist” is the last word i would use to insult someone”

Dear Irish,

Your honour,
“Son of terrorist whore” is indubitably a racist comment. It shows the confusion(voluntary or not) there is between an human beeing(arab person) and a kind of behaviour(terrorism). This confusion in the mind of whom could utter it, a confusion each of us had seen in the mind of many people of this world, the few last year, a confusion we could even have in mind too, may be. But this confusion which have for presupposition or more precisely which have the prejudice): Each arab is a terrorist, which is indubitably, voluntary or not, a racist confusion.
The “racial injure” is a juridical notion etablished after holocaust, slavery and colonialism, when people understood that racist mind or behaviour ineluctably become one day racist violent crime. it’s often an injure which refered to History crime and to a kind of presumed inferiority which always refered to real former suffering and humbling.
Those who ignore french past, could think it was only refered to “war against terrorist joke”.
It was not. The ” terrorist whores” were the arab girls who were usually raped, often tortured by some french soldiers, during Algerian war. Sometimes they “disappeared” and those “soldiers” quoted to the only reason of their “disappearance” “terrorist whore”.

Im not sure about Zidane’s sister waiting for mats but if she looks anything like Zizou that is something I would rather not think about.

LOL! Mike - that comment literally made me laugh out loud (by myself in front of my computer). Thank God I have a door and no one saw! LOL!

Thierry, I’m sorry about this comment but do you really think Materazzi knows that history well. I really dont think he cares and knows anything about it. I’m sure they dont study that history in depth in Italy. I didnt even study it when I lived in France or in Belgium. I’m really certain it never crossed his mind and that he couldnt care less.

He isnt a PhD, he’s a soccer player.

P.S. Thanks for the history lesson though. I didnt know that.

P.P.S. Do you think that Zidane may actually be the son of a terrorist whore?

P.P.P.S. They did both admit Materazzi never actually said that. The real comment involved taking the shirt of ZZ’s sister’s back. I wonder why ZZ is so sensitive about the topic. Here are some possible reasons:

1. He wants to take the shirt off of his sister’s back himself
2. Mats already took the shirt off ZZ’s sister’s back
3. Mats already took the shirt off ZZ’s sister’s back and bragged about it to the entire French soccer team who have also taken the shirt off of ZZ’s sister’s back
4. Mats already took the shirt off ZZ’s sister’s back, got her pregnant and ditched her
5. ZZ caught Mats taking the shirt off ZZ’s sister’s back
6. ZZ’s sister is actually a w.h.o.r.e
7. ZZ’s sis works on the streets of Amsterdam

If anyone told my brother that they want to take the shirt off my back he would laugh his head off and say: “in your dreams” “Dream on” or “you dont stand a chance”

Heck! If anyone told my boyfriend that they want to take the shirt off my back he would laugh his head off and say: “in your dreams” “Dream on” or “you dont stand a chance” OR “just try“ (cause he knows it will NEVER happen)

addition:

8. ZZ’s family has been wondering why ZZ’s sister’s son strangely looks like Materazzi….

9. ZZ’s sis’ baby’s first word was ‘ciao!’
10. ZZ’s sis’ baby’s first sentence was ‘forza italia!!!”

Thierry-

Firstly, everyone knows that all Arabs/Muslims are terrorists. ;) Unfortunately we live in an increasingly Islamophobic world.

In this instance, two individuals (idiots) were trying to goad each other. One inferred his superiority by suggesting that the other would be privileged to receive his shirt and the other responded in a manner that may have been racially insensitive … but such is life.

The “confusion” is the ever-expanding definition of what is racism and what constitutes racial vilification. The alleged comment is best interpreted as an insult, nothing more nothing less. (The market for terrorism and prostitution is a long way from being cornered.) What is racist however is the proposition that the alleged comment is racist because of a predisposition to interpret an insult between persons of different ethic groups as such.

MATERAZZI WAS NOT BEING RACIST!!!!! I really dont know why you are argueing the point of Racism as the tiff between Zidane and Materazzi wasnt even about race… serioulsy one is from france the other italy both Neighbouring european countries very similar there was nothing to be racist on. If the comment made by Materazzi was ‘terroist whore’ it still wouldnt be rasict as Zidane is french and Muslim is a religion the comment would have come under religious discrimination not racism so STOP saying it was racism as it WASNT either it was just a comment made on impulse due to the male ego. Zidane simply made a fool of himself his actions were not rectified for the situation and it was just plain dumb get over it Italy won the world cup FORZA AZZURRI oh and TEAM CATHERINE!

thank you Lucy!

I’m still laughing at my own joke about ZZ’s sister’s baby saying ‘forza italia’!!!! That is just funny!

I dont understand why Thierry is still talking about racism. Thierry, it is not racist to want to take the shirt off of someone’s back. By the way, Zidane was being arrogant and rude, if anything Materazzi should have headbutted him! LOL. But even he has too much class for that!

ha ha ha!

Yay! It’s friday!

Hey Catherine;

I was at a lounge just off Cavendish the other day and some guys mark a sexist remark to some girl who had walked in. She promptly turned around and bitched at them for like 30 seconds. I remember thinking wow she has alot of guts. Im starting to think that was you.

A lawyer married a woman who had previously divorced ten husbands. On their wedding night, she told her new husband, “Please be gentle, I’m still a virgin.”

“What?” said the puzzled groom. “How can that be if you’ve been married ten times?”

“Well, Husband #1 was a sales representative: he kept telling me how great it was going to be.

Husband #2 was in software services: he was never really sure how it was supposed to function, but he said he’d look into it and get back to me.

Husband #3 was from field services: he said everything checked out diagnostically but he just couldn’t get the system up.

Husband #4 was in telemarketing: even though he knew he had the order, he didn’t know when he would be able to deliver.

Husband #5 was an engineer: he understood the basic process but wanted three years to research, implement, and design a new state-of-the-art method.

Husband #6 was from finance and administration: he thought he knew how, but he wasn’t sure whether it was his job or not.

Husband #7 was in marketing: although he had a nice product, he was never sure how to position it.

Husband #8 was a psychologist: all he ever did was talk about it.

Husband #9 was a gynaecologist: all he did was look at it.

Husband #10 was a stamp collector: all he ever did was… God! I miss him!

But now that I’ve married you, I’m really excited!”

“Good,” said the new husband, “but, why?”

“You’re a lawyer. This time I know I’m gonna get screwed!”
