Well Belgium just got distroyed in the semi-final, I guess the wrong team went through. Italy played poorly in the quarters but to lose 4-1 give me a break, what-a-waste.

And the funny thing is, I bet if any of this came down to real life, and not some argument on a blog, you’d drop some fruit in your looms, mr tough guy talks trash on the internet!

I’m really sick of the inconsistency in referees. I mean, WC 2006 the ref gave a Croatian player THREE yellows before sending him off. I mean really, come on. They need to do something about the human error in the game, it’s just too much. And it’s not like they can’t now, there’s plenty of money and technology laying around they could use, I’m sure.

I think people are completely missing the point here. Whether Italy disserved to win or not is not the issue, nor is it whether Italy played up to their standards or were able to score in open play. The issue is the inconsistency in officiating. If the first Belgium goal was too hard to call on the line you DON’T GIVE THE GOAL, makes sence to me. I mean they applied this rule to Italy’s offside call, why not the former. Too many bad calls to say this is human error. The refs have to make a judgement call and it’s difficult to do but I’m quite certain that when it’s a 50/50 call there are rules they follow so the judgement is consistent and fair. You can’t give the benefit of the doubt to the defending team on an offside and than give the attacking team the benefit of the doubt on the goal-line clearance. The problem is not the bad calls but the blantant inconsistency. 50/50 calls should either always go to the attacking team or to the defending team, not whatever the ref feel like on that particular day. This is the only fair way to do it without the aid of video replay. So what’s the deal? This sort of crap happens all the time, called back goals, goals incorrectly awarded, incorrect offside calls. If they would just make their calls more consistent across the board it would bring back some credibility to this sport. This game was just an example of the inconsistency that exists. Belgium were winning the 50/50 calls hands down and if you can just get past the fact that it was Italy playing in this game you would see that. You have all looked at the evidence, the still shots of the goal-line clearance, you just can’t tell, it’s too close to call. So what should the linesman do in this situation? (forgetting the Italy bias, pretend it’s a Brazilian clearing the ball off the line) What should the linesman do? Well logic would tell you that you do not award the goal, simply because there is not 100% certainty that the ball crossed the plain. What do you all think?

clearly you dont read simply because you’re incapable of anything more complex that dr. suess. i mean there were only 4 lines devoted to you and that must have been a real stretch. maybe that might also explain your incapability of grasping the sequence of events.
