Help Me to Help You
Now, it’s no secret that I haven’t been the best blogger. I haven’t blogged too frequently, but…It’s not that I lost my passion for soccer or the Azzurri. It’s just that the national team plays so rarely most of the time, that there really isn’t anything to blog about. But I really like blogging. And based on the comments, you guys really like reading and replying. So let’s make a deal.
You give post in the comments section what you’d like to see me blog about during these dry spells. When there isn’t any Azzurri news/games going on, what should I post? That means, what would you like to read?
Serie A news? How the national team players are doing at thier respective clubs? Profiles on upcoming players/legends? Any/all of the above? Should I turn this blog into a Playstation 3 Fanpage when the Azzurri aren’t playing?
Let me know down below. So I can improve the experience for all of us.

you could always get nostalgic and talk about WC2006

Maybe a profile every once in a while on how national players not in Serie A are doing? I follow Serie A religiously, but every other league with occasional interest. To be honest, I have no idea how Grosso/Lyon or Oddo/Toni/Bayern are doing.
I hear you man, I (very) briefly wrote for the Italy WCB a long, long time ago (under my real name) but had the same problem as you and drifted out of it. Hope you do better than I…
To break up the monotony, over on the Juventus Offside I did a different quiz-random kind of post, check it out. Maybe give that a go, once in a while when things are kinda stale that could work. (Not necessarily eyes, but some quiz or something)

Ok so so far it seems like you guys would like to be kept updated on the players in their clubs, especially in clubs that aren’t in Italy. Sounds fair enough. Any other ideas?

Italians Abroad – For the weekend of 11/8-9/08
Toni e Rossi: gol lampo
Bene Moretti e Grosso

For Rossi fans
Highlights from Villarreal site (will there till next game)
Too bad the volley didn’t go in…, that would have been golazo too…:p

Updates on how players in other leagues are doing may be a lot to ask to Julian… we can’t expect him to watch their games *and* Serie A. Still, it may provide a good platform for discussion, even if he’s just reporting news as he finds them.
Ideas for other posts, how about this: go on a Fifa game or Pro Evo or whatever and write down all the formations listed in the Settings screen before a match. 3-4-3, 3-5-2, 3-6-1, 4-4-2, etc. Whenever there’s a long stretch without azzurri news, take one of these formations and try and make an Azzurri team into it with the players we’ve got. Add considerations on how certain players would be asked to play wider than normal, or slightly out of their usual role, plus general tactical thoughts and so on. Then we can all discuss your choices for the formation on this wall and offer our own alternatives. Give a common title for posts of this kind (eg: “How would Italy do with a [insert formation]?” or something wittier if you can think of anything).
Plan it so that within a year or so, you should have gone in order through every single formation offered in football. Not only will this make for a source of interesting and regular posts, it will also give us all a better awareness of our tactical flexibility, player alternatives and strengths and weaknesses. Of course it’s all just irrelevant fantasy football – Italy will NEVER play with a 4-2-2-2 – but it can lead to some pleasant speculation.
Don’t necessarily follow the order of the formations given (no need to do all three-men defence possibilities in a row, it would get boring). Vary a little, just make sure you’re covering them all.
Just a thought. You’re doing a good job Julian, and this blog is indeed more agreeable to post in than the Roma one, which is way too crowded (and full of trolls) for me.

Oh yeah, a general overlook at other international teams – Spain, Brazil, England – would also make for very good fillers, perhaps even more so than Italian players outside of Serie A, imho.

How about Azzurri studs and duds (or a better title)? Half an article on one of the best performers, and half on either one of the worst, or most disappointing. You could also discuss tweeners like Del Piero. I think that articles like these would provide a good writing challenge during dry spells and would also generate alot of responses from readers.

John Silver, I really like your ideas.
Ok guys, thanks for the feedback. I won’t be watching all the games that our guys play in overseas but at the least I might try to gather news about how theyre doing.

Give us reports on how bad Roma is playing…That will boost your ratings

Ha KJ that’d only make me popular with about half theoffside
Anyway since this is the national team blog I’d rather not take sides about clubs…

Post anything about Italian football. Serie A, national team players, Italian teams in CL and UEFA, etc.

julian, you had discussed earlier about putting up legend posts about earlier nazionale players…for newer converts like me, that would be very informative…

How about the previous world cups where Italy won a medal? You could do a team or player profile.
‘34, ‘38, ‘70, ‘78, ‘82, ‘90, ‘94, and ‘06

You could start a petition and get it signed by everyone on TheOffside to ask Francesco Totti to come back to the National Team.
You could have daily tidbits on the lives on & off the pitch of Daniele De Rossi & Alberto Aquilani, and once the petition is a success, Francesco Totti.

I also suggest we take a visit to Marcello Lippi’s home and picket outside for the grand return of Christian “Scarpa di Oro” Panucci to the team and to take the spot of Luca Toni. Then we sack Lippi and appoint the newly-reinstated Totti as player-coach.

Amauri says that he “feels” Italian. I “feel” like he can go fuck himself.
