Happy 3 Year Anniversary!
A night I will never forget. I put it even in front of the final.
Italy-Germany 2006. Epic game. Enjoy:
I’m not even Italian nor do I like Italy…but this game was incredibly EPIC! Best game of the World Cup for sure.

It must be getting close to WC 2010…
-> Totti wants to come back.
Well if Lippi will not call Cassano, then might as well call Totti for
4-3-1-2 or 4-2-3-1 formation
kqql, I hope you’re kidding!
And this is definitely a day I’ll never forget. Epic.

If Marcello Lippi Calls Me I Will Return To Play For Italy – Francesco Totti
TOTTI BACK FOR THE NATIOANL SQAUD YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING IF YOU WOULNDT WANT HIM HES STILL CLASS- CALL HIM AND PUT HIM IN THE TRIQUESTA AND LETS DEFEND THIS TITLE W HONOR.
I still get chills watching that.
I was on a cruise, off the coast of Monaco on my way to Livorno. About 400 people were watching the game on this giant TV screen the ship had outside by the pool. I was with 20 or so other young Azzurri “ultras”. After 2 hours of thrilling football, Grosso scored, and we went nuts; knocking over drinks and lounge chairs everywhere. I almost didn’t even see Del Piero score I was still celebrating. Afterwords we ran up and down the ship with an air horn and flags, security got pretty pissed. Definitely one of the best nights of my life.
What are your stories?

20 italians packed around a 20″ TV in the backyard, surrounded by food, vino… basically silence until the Grosso goal. When he scored not only did the backyard erupt but just about the entire neighborhood yelled at once. That was a moment i will never forget.

I suppose this was payback for us winning in Italy 1990. Anyway the better team won each time.
The game that singlehandedly made me into the fan I am today. I barely remember the actual game, but I do remember it was balls-out action with both teams so desperate to avoid PKs. Hell, Lippi had 4 strikers on by the end- that alone should tell you how badly we wanted a goal. It was a fantastic fantastic match.
Italia played a wonderful match against Germany.
YES YES YES!!! I was at work and had the game on. I was dreading and very nervous that we would go to PK’s and lose again in heartbreaking fashion
Then Grosso scored and I just erupted, started running around like an idiot and screaming and crying. Finally looked at the TV again, and saw ADP score and did it all over again. Started fielding calls from family who were also screaming!
People at work were just looking and laughing , but knew a little how much it meant to me!
I still get choked up thinking about it!
I am old enough to have lived throught the heartbreaks of WC90, WC 94, WC 98, Euro 2000, WC 02 and it all just came out after Grosso’s goal
I was at work for the first half, watching it on the computer. When my shift was over I went over to my godfather house because my family and cousin where over there. We all went nuts when Grosso scored and then when Del Piero scored I ran down the street cheering and jumping saying one more game. The best part for me is when Cannavaro won both headers that lead to Del Piero goal.
That was without a doubt my favorite Italia game I have ever watched. My cousin and I were watching it at my grandparents house. We were in the back room and everyone else was in the front room. When grosso scored we absolutely erupted. My family was not even phased by it because they were used to it.
i was watching it on my own at about 4am in the middle of the night in australia! it’s just not the same down under, and my family and italian friends live the other side of the world! Still i made still enjoyed it and screamed my head off when the goals went in. Cant say the same for my missus though, who was trying to sleep in bed.

I still get goosebumps watching this.
When Italy beat Germany in their own home, I knew it that we were going to be the champion. Wonderful night, intense as hell.

Awesome! I was holed up watching the game with a few people inside during 4th of July celebrations. My phone went off just seconds before the Grosso goal. While talking, the ball went in and I threw phone across the room (busting it in half but, oh well). Most excitingly tense to euphoric moment!
brilliant stuff, they should show this to the azzurri before every game. my arrogant german friend sure got it afterwards! whenever we play like that we will be champions.

I was watching alone in my room it was too intense to be with anyone else when grosso scored i thought i was in a dream..Del P was the icing on the cake especially for Alex himslef after all the failure hes had in the past with the national squad i rember the euros before the guy couldnt finish off france and we lost in golden goal, this made up for it. Greatest game I have ever watched that and Italia-Holland euro’s from 2000
Still remember this day like it was yesterday….Caffe Amici, Commercial drive, Vancouver. In the back of the bar packed like sardines on a muggy day, 119 minutes of intense action…..then….SHEER ECSTASY!!!
Like others, I lived through the heartache at the s. Paolo in 90, PKs in the Rose Bowl in 94, PKs again in St Denis in 98, 2000……I am still bitter to no end….July 4th, 2006, with one curling, left footed strike, eased almost 20 years of heartache

Was at the game, behind goal, about 10 rows back from where Grosso and Del Piero scored. Was sooooooooooo tense, so exhausted. At about 115 mins, turned to my brother and remember saying “greatest game of football ive ever seen”, and that was still nil nil. Only about 2000 azzurri in the stadium, tedeschi’s were giving us heaps. Went apeshit when we scored, kissing and hugging every azzurri supporter within reach. Second goal, we were both crying with happiness. Anone who says words can decribe it, wasnt there. Will NEVER forget it, FCUKING AMAZING, FCUKING INCREDIBLE,wish ever azzurri fan could have had just a little of that feeling. Still getting goosebumps now, Tony, Forza Italia

The Italy-Germany game of 2006 was probably the most intense/emotional day of my life so far. I don’t even remember the finals… THIS was the game I will remember forever.
