Guido Rossi to run FIGC

May 16th, 2006 | By: Jay | No Comments »

Guido Rossi, the aging senator and sports law expert, will run the FIGC during its time of crisis until a new president can be formally appointed. This from an AGI press release:

AGI/DS) - Rome, May 16 - The commissioner of the Italian Football Federation will be Guido Rossi. The announcement was given at the end of the meeting of the CONI executive council in Rome at Foro Italico. The former chairman of Consob has been chosen in that he is a man of great value who can bring the best of out of the FIGC as it waits for a good replacement for Franco Carraro. Rossi will be flanked by four sub-commissioners and will nominate the extraordinary commissioner of the AIA (chairman Tullio Lanese has suspended himself). He will have to write the new regulations for the Italian football system and to draw up an ethical code that club bosses strongly requested last week. His allegiances are known: Guido Rossi supports Inter. (AGI) -

Oh, and all ye out there hoping for a bit of ’schaudenfreude’ (do I get bonus points for using a German word?) can forget about it… once these guys step on the pitch, they will be locked. in.
