Ghana

The following is from a recent post on the Ghana site. Apparently trouble is brewing for the Black Stars.

“Another defeat

Again to a club squad, and again ignominously. This time the twist, not even a club side with considerable playing experience, but a “select side” mixing four Austrian club teams. On Sunday, the Stars lost 1-0 to Austrian Lavanttal select side, a side composed of members of the Austrian SK St. Andra, Wolfsberger AC, St Andra, and ATSV Wolfsburg, as well as a couple of kids from Wolfsburg with nothing better to do.

More precariously, though the vaunted midfield was again absent, the goal and backline were manned in the first half by expected Black Stars starters. And it was in the first half and against these starters that all of the damage occurred. Certainly great things may be on the horizon, but the cloud raining gold has not broken yet.”

It’s almost as if they’re withholding their midfield so that they can say “Oh. Our best midfielders weren’t playing, so that’s why we lost. Again.”

I just Hope the Azzurri don’t underestimate them. Every team in this tourney is a danger.
