Gentile shown the door
Claudio Gentile is out as the U-21 coach. I’m not happy with the decision, but what is completely bizarre is that Gentile claims he wasn’t told why he was axed. The FIGC website is completely avoiding the matter; not even a rudimentary press release. That’s just silly.

Hey JAY:
You (ITALY) proparbly FIXED this WC too!!!
Dont ask me how, you’re ITALIAN so tell me how!!!
Maybe PIRLO’s the only MEDIOCRE player you have….THE BEST ARE A BLOODY GOALKEEPER AND A DEFENDER and we all know they dont score goals………..SO TELL ME, HOW DID YOU GET PAST AUSTRALIA???

@futebolblinger
What does this have to do with Gentile’s sacking?
Are you some kind of idiot that hasn’t learned how to read yet?
Find yourself a decent teacher and stop whining like a little schoolgirl.

It seems like Guido Rossi wants to put his stamp on FIGC more than anything. I wished Gentile would have been given more of a look as the full national coach. He obvioulsy worked well with many of the younger players on the team since they won two U-21 trophies. I do like that they are hiring fresh, young coaches who aren’t tied to decaying, old tactics.

@futebolblinger
We got by on the account of an idiot defender who decided to slide past a surging attacker in the area.
Now you tell me, why 11-man Australia did not manage to score on 10-man Italy.
As for Gentile….very sad! After all he did for the U-21’s, this is the way he is thanked.

Away from the subject, but how come the top of the page still doesnt show the 2006 championship? shouldnt that be like the first thing to do On july 9th????

TonyD thats the best argument, even the australian coach said that! ”Italy got a man wrongly sent off, and we didnt take advantage. Italy got a penalty that wasnt penalty and took advantage, therefore they deserved to go through”. Sometimes you get wrong calls on your side, sometimes against you, thats the story of this game, and dont say FIFA favors italy, cuz de rossi got 4 matches for elbowing a player during a normal action, totti got 3 for spitting on a player, and zidane got 3 for hitting an italian in an off the ball incident. So FIFA is clearly against us, and lets not even mention the sanction on materazzi for insulting zidane, that was just the most pathetic thing ever!
But I think this guy is crying cuz he thought his country was going to win. And the fact that defending cant take u to win a championship makes it obvious that he doesnt know anything bout soccer. Tough luck for your team! Italy can actually win SURPRISE! And read please, this is italy’s blog, so we are not interested in what you have to say, really…
About gentile, i guess the federation thought his time was up. Its sad, he did a lot of good job with youngsters. Congrats to the new u21 coaches zola and casiraghi, i think they will do a good job. I am actually more worried about donadoni, who only has a short experience, but lets see.

Hey I Dont give a damn about Gentile, as long as ITALIANS are fixing matches, it does’nt matter who does what!!!

To All,
Gentile was looking at all the young boys bums while they were having showers after practice. Everyone knows which team he’s being playing for!

Pity about Gentile…
a very successful U-21 coach, even getting a bronze Olympic medal that was missing from the Italian “bacheca” for a long time;
maybe as far back as the 1936 win (in Berlin, I think!) under that Football giant, Vittorio Pozzo.
