Geneva Draw

May 31st, 2006 | By: Jay | 7 Comments »

My only recollection of my short time in Geneva (aside from the UN and the beautiful lake) was that giant clock of flowers. Scave, or anybody else who was there tonight, please drag the team to the clock and tell them its time to WAKE UP.

I wish I had more to say but I’ve been held hostage by meetings all day and half the night, and am awaiting some quality time with the DVR to review the match. For right now, let me just say I’m very disappointed. More to follow tomorrow.

Did you see De Rossi’s challenge on the Swiss No. 5, god I love him and he has to start. He should have been sent off but he knew exactly what he was doing as earlier on that no. 5 was giving Totti a hard time. It was calculated revenge, not very nice but he is now my fave player.

Talking of Totti he looked pretty decent considering he is coming back from injury, I like to see the real Totti. When his head is straight (like Euro 2000) not when he’s got a chip on his shoulder (WC 2002 & Euro 2004).

One concern is our full backs as Grosso and particuarly Zaccardo worry me, I think Lippi has to go with Oddo and Grossi and then bring back Zambrotta obviously.

All in all it was only 1-1 but I was pleased, I like it how we don’t seem to play as direct anymore. Trap’s team always used to just try and hit the long ball to Vieri which irritated me so much. We showed some nice passing and a very good ability to hit a team on the counter attack.

I’m never arrogant when it come to the Azzurri and wouldn’t dream or predicting a win. Still doesn’t stop me dream of a World Cup win and hitting them streets tooting my horn.

Forza Azzurri !!!!

I’m back from my Geneva Trip. Obviously not as happy as I expected to be. Lets make it quick,

Good Things.
- Cannavaro, man that guy can play. He’s smaller than almost anyone on the field but no one can get past him. My respect went up x2 for him. So even though I always beleived him to be the best defender in the world, I now see him has twice as better as that best defender in the world.

- Toni, he impressed me with his giant like appearance. I mean I saw him from a meter away when he was warming up, and he’s huge. He played well, and I know he can achieve great things in this world cup.

Mmmmm, strugling to come up with anything else, offcourse it was a good goal, but anyone could have put that in. Gilardino did not play well.

Bad Things

- Those other defenders except Cannavaro offcourse. Materazzi is one man I would love to see gone. Grosso made mistakes as well as Zaccardo. Switzerland could have scored more than one goal by their mistakes alone.

- Totti, Whatever they say, he did not play well. Hopefully it is true that he is not yet 100%

- The other bad thing is those bloody Swiss guys that were so happy with a draw that they decided to waste 25 minutes of time. I was just watching the game hoping they would star t playing soon when it was already full time. What the hell was that. Anyways, if they are happy with a draw they will not go far. At least we know we played bad.

I forgot.

De Rossi impressed me greatly. We are extremely lucky to have a player like that in our Squad. Another Rock who doesn’t like to take shit from anyone. And like to shoot on goals. I love him, and I’m not saying that cause I am a Roma fan.

who are on the wings?…there`s no wing player in this formation filippo either carmoranesi or del piero is needed for totti to have space or to make through passes. i think this is a poor formation by fillippo. Italy wont play this formation
