Gazzetta’s 11

May 30th, 2006 | By: Jay | 8 Comments »

Gazzetta has released what they think tomrrow’s starting eleven will be:

Buffon
Grosso, Cannavaro, Materazzi, Zaccardo
Gattuso, Pirlo, Camoranesi
Totti, Del Piero, Gilardino

I’m surprised at Zaccardo over Oddo and not really sure why he’s leaning that way, but so be it. Maybe he figures Camo will be running up and down the right and wants Zaccardo to “stay home”.

But with a 3-man midfield we cannot expect camo to run up and down the right. He’ll have a more central role to play, and the wing-backs will have to be, well, wingers.

A while back that would have been a cracking starting 11. But, as you say, I’m suprised that there’s no Luca Toni. Not sure about Del Piero either, always thought of him as a bit of an enigma - someone who’s always promised much on the international scene but never really delivered. And sorry, but after his arrogant performance against Arsenal, there is no way I would have even taken ‘camo’ to Germany, let alone play him.

Haha. Del Piero, huh? I think, he’s one of the most ridiculed players in the world. Senderos will take good care of him tonight. ;)

well considering that nesta and zambo are injured, and DP coming in for toni/gila, it’s not very different from the usual starting 11.

And Tich, camoranesi has been brilliant for the azzurri. He brings in the creativity and is a hard tackler. I would deffinitely start him. U an arsenal fan, mate?

Good point about Camo having to stay in more of a central role, Rinaldo. I know everyone is upset that this might be the ’strongest 11′ whatever that means, but there is still the Ukraine match to play and I doubt Lippi is just going to throw the B team in there for that match. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt for now. And if they lose to Ghana? Off with his head! ha ha.
