Sasa, you obviously don't know very much about the facts of Italian soccer and Italian soccer players. I will consider you comments to be opinion rather than facts.

Cheers

I almost with there was something worse than a redcard.

The Italians undoubtably have tremendous skill on both the national and international level. The behavior of many italian players and fans however leaves a lot to be desired. Italy and italian football has a well deserved reputation for bad spormanship, corruption, and racism.

The elbow to the face of the american team captain was disgraceful, the excessive diving undignified, and the targeting for fouls and baiting of key players from the opposing team should be considered intolerable to all reasonable fans of the game.

Materazzi should be suspended for his involvment in the "headbutt" debacle, and should the allegation of corruption in serie A prove true italy should be stripped of the world cup title.

Fifa needs to crack down hard on the kind of dity unsportsman-like conduct that has sadly become the hallmark of the italians among others.

Hello everyone,

I've come back from the dead to tell all you anti-Italian that your points are well taken. How on earth can Italy be given any credit when after all, they only bet the high-flying Ghanese 2-0, the 2nd-ranked Checkoslovakia 2-0, Ukraine 3-0, and the mighty Germans 2-0, not to mention that they never conceded a goal except for the one they scored on their own net.

I even wonder how on earth do people all over the world love Italy's food, fashion and sports cars - I made some pretty shitty sports cars when I was alive, don't you think?

Oh, and how can these history books even dare to suggest that Rome and Italy civilized half of an entire planet with their western laws, architecture, roads and wealth. How on earth did half of the English dictionary come to be based on Latin ... hmmmm ... quite strange. Who cares about the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci and Galileo Galilei?

And Christopher Columbus, Amerigo Vespucci (for whom North and South America was named after), and Giovanni Cabotto (John Cabott to you English patsies) might have been Italian, but who cares that they discovered America.

As for the world cup, Italy hasn't proven a thing by making it all the way to the final. Hopefully they don't win on Sunday, so that all you anti-Italian can say, "I told you so".

I agree with you guys - Italy, what a waste of a country.

Forza Italia!

Italy has less fols because they foul less. They are the least penalized in the entire tournament. That is because they play with skill, elegance, panache and style. Anyone who has watched their game for the past fifty years like I have would know that. When teams play against Italy they know they have to rough them up in order to have a chance, so they play some sort of hybrid soccer/rugby.

Why do we have to discuss about the dives and the fouls? Some idiot posted somewhere in this thread that Italy cheated b/c they had less fouls called against, when playing Ukraine. So, isnt that a possibility?? Does Italy needs to have more fouls than the other team for the game to be fair? Lets remember that Materazzi has 1 foul in the whole cup, a normal, maybe yellow card foul, for which he got a red.
I cant believe people still complain about the Australia game. Even the coach said: ''We got favored with the unexistant red card, didnt take advantage of it, then Italy got favored with an unexistant penalty and took advantage of it'' Thats it. Sometimes you get a bad call to favor your side. We got plenty of bad calls against us last WC, no one seemed to complain/care about it.

-Against Croatia one goal wrongly disallowed
-Against Korea Totti wrongly dismissed, when it should have been a penalty. Another penalty denied, a penalty called against (which buffon saved), a goal dissallowed.

That you can call cheating!
Here we got an unfair red card, and then were favored with a penalty. Balanced. And none of that 'last minute' crap. A bad call is a bad call anytime! Add drama to it by saying it was last minute, and then complain about italians being dramatic...
