Don’t Be Fooled…
I just got back from a long day of travel and didn’t get to comment on the US Match until now, but don’t be fooled by that result. Germany was basically playing an MLS all-star team, with a couple notable exceptions (Kasy Keller among them). That US squad looks nothing like the side that will suit up against the Azzurri this summer. I’m not even sure why this match was played frankly, as none of the clubs were mandated to release players. Luckily nobody got injured.

The only fool is the American fan that thinks USA has any chances against Italy. No offense. You can call up any American you want, even those that could not play against Germany. Call that 14 year old kid that is getting million dollar contracts playing little league. Call your mom, your dog, hell you can ask Bush to buy the game or threaten Italy with war. USA WILL LOSE AGAINST ITALY. Just be happy with the Coca Cola ranking you have now, because even though it’s the fakest ranking ever, Coca Cola will have to drop the USA several dozen places soon. This propaganda cannot stand.

Well in soccer nothing is 100% sure. I thought the same thing against South Korea, Norway, Sweden and we always got sacked. Italy plays better against bigger teams as it seems we are more motivated.
Regarding Freddy Edu it is not certain to play the world cup (he is 16years old) but it would still be a thrill to see him play. In any case, he is going to Europe next summer.

dont be so certain, I think the US will pose the greatest threat out of our group actually. Brian McBride and Landon Donovan are quality strikers and Kasey Keller is a solid keeper, but can they keep Toni, Totti, Del Piero and Gilardino off the scoresheet…time will tell

Ok maybe I was a bit harsh. I just don’t like that ranking because it has everyone here in the states say that the USA is better than Italy due to their higher ranking. If they go past the group I will start respecting the US national team more. But it will be tough for them, especially playing the Czech Republic first. Good Luck.

I agree with you Massimo. Lets see what American’s do. However we have to admit that they are improving cup after cup. Got their qualifications to the quarter finals or semi (can’t remember) stolen by the Germans in 2002 because of a refused goal.

Everything was stolen in 2002.

The US side indeed has some world-class players, skill and ability-wise. What they lack is football-blood, instilled from living in a football culture. This places them in a deficit situation in top-level competition because it leaves them without the necessary understanding and desire to win the tough matches. American ice hockey players suffer the same deficit which is why, save for a couple of flashes in the pan, they can’t win major international competitions at that sport either.

hey Massimo, how about getting some pride fucker

Where are all the big shit talking, anti-America people now ???
Team USA just played Italy to a 1-1 draw despite playing literally the entire 2nd half a man down.
Even the BBC stated that USA was the better side in the game.

ghana were the best team in group E despite losing a match and the most exciting to watch. their guna be a big team in the near future just wait and there is news that freddy adu wants to play for ghana and join them if they get to 2010. Michael Essien will hopefully show his true colours next season if that donut Jose mourinho stops controllin him in how he wants people to play football.
