Happy new year to all…I’ve been ‘taking a break’ from the Azzurri blog over the holidays, doing some traveling, etcetera, but its time to get back to the task at hand.

The 23 members of La Nazionale and Marcello Lippi will have the order of Cavaliere Ufficiale bestowed upon them tomorrow. It’s basically the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic…one of Italy’s higher public service orders. Seems to be a fitting way to start the new year. In other news, Juve and AC Milan played for the Berlusconi trophy this weekend (This one is usually played in the pre-season but was postponed). We’ll be seeing more of the black-and-white of Juventus back at the San Siro next season, but I must admit I found it a bit weird to read the highlights of this one under the current circumstances.
