Barone on the bubble?

April 19th, 2006 | By: Jay | 2 Comments »

Simone Barone is apparently worried about not making the WC roster. Either that or he’s doing a crafty job of ‘reverse psychology’.

If he plays anything like he has the last few weeks, it won’t even be a question. He’ll be there.

honestly i think there’s a lot of competition for the central midfield spots. Barone better be worried of perrotta’s late form. Perrotta played for italy after more than a year, against germany, and totti getting injured was a good opportunity for lippi to include him. But now that totti’ll be back, we’ll have to see who lippi excludes. Diana? maybe. Or maybe he’ll take one forward less (iaquinta?).

check out our midfield:

definitely at WC: pirlo, gattusso, de rossi, camoranesi

probables: barone, perrotta, diana, pasquale, marchionni, fiore.

Only six (maybe 7) of the above will go thru.

All of those probables have played better over the past year than Camoranesi. If Lippi was as flexible as he says, Camo wouldn’t be a sure thing anymore.
